REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Development and Marketing

LOCATION: Portland, OR (In-person work required. Limited remote work may be allowed with supervisory approval) 

SALARY RANGE: $55,000-60,000

Benefits Include: Medical Insurance (Regence), Dental Insurance (Moda), Health Equity FSA; IRA Retirement Plan with 3% employer match; generous paid time off package including: vacation time, sick time, paid holidays, floating holidays, jury duty leave, and sabbatical time. Annual paid time-off is prorated in the first year of employment.

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

Film Forever Northwest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that owns and operates two of Portland’s most renowned landmarks for film arts: the historic Hollywood Theatre, a movie palace in continuous operation since 1926 and the cultural heart of the Hollywood district; and Movie Madness, an iconic independent video store with one of the largest collections of physical media in the United States.

 Our mission is to entertain, inspire, educate, and connect our community through the art of film, while preserving the historic Hollywood Theatre and the world-class Movie Madness video collection. We offer a diverse array of film programming and initiatives that empower audiences to fully explore and participate in cinema's rich cultural heritage.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Marketing Specialist is responsible for promoting the Hollywood Theatre and Movie Madness as destinations for superior film experiences, with a diverse range of film programming and a film archive of more than 95,000 titles, through storytelling and content creation. The Marketing Specialist crafts valuable and engaging content to attract and retain customers, members, and donors through graphic design, written pieces, and video. They act as lead contributor and coordinator for the organization’s blog, video content, and marketing collateral.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Create promotional materials (posters, social media assets, video) for special events/screenings at the Hollywood and Movie Madness
  • Create and maintain promotional materials for special initiatives (merch releases, development projects)
  • Create dynamic video content that brings our programming to life, from monthly trailers to social media storytelling
  • Provide creative input for marketing/advertising strategy 
  • Execute audience and customer experience initiatives, approximately once per month at both Hollywood Theatre and Movie Madness 
  • Lead editorial coordination for the co-branded blog launching in 2026, working with staff and guest contributors
  • Provide additional writing, graphic design, and video creation/editing as assigned
  • Represent the Hollywood Theatre and Movie Madness at screenings and public events as needed
  • Provide coverage for special events and conventions as needed
  • Provide coverage for the Marketing Coordinator as needed
  • Other initiatives, projects, and duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 years of experience in marketing, ideally within nonprofits or arts and culture
  • Adept at Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc.)
  • Familiarity with WordPress CMS
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt voice
  • A strong design sensibility and fluency in visual communication
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time
  • Mission-driven team player, able to collaborate with colleagues across the organization

WORK CONDITIONS & REQUIREMENTS

The work is primarily performed in an office setting and/or remotely, with off-site meetings and events. Occasional travel may be required. This is mainly a sedentary position that requires the employee to sit, stand, walk, and bend, and may occasionally require moving files and other equipment.
