CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time; Eligible for Overtime
REPORTS TO: Finance Manager
COMPENSATION: $28-$32/hour, based on experience

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Film Forever Northwest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that owns and operates two of Portland’s most renowned landmarks for film arts: the historic Hollywood Theatre, a movie palace in continuous operation since 1926 and the cultural heart of the Hollywood district; and Movie Madness, an iconic independent video store with one of the largest collections of physical media in the United States.
Our mission is to entertain, inspire, educate, and connect our community through the art of film, while preserving the historic Hollywood Theatre and the world-class Movie Madness video collection. We offer a diverse array of film programming and initiatives that empower audiences to fully explore and participate in cinema's rich cultural heritage.
JOB Summary:
The Staff Accountant works directly with the Finance Manager to assist with the preparation and analysis of the financial activity of the organization
RESPONSIBILITIES including but not limited to:
- Daily QuickBooks data entry, A/P assistance, cash counting and processing, month-end assistance, bank deposits
- A/P – bill creation, coding and entry, check prep, issue resolution, new credit applications
- A/R – Invoice creation, A/R aging, payment processing, merchandise sales and pledge receivable reconciliation
- Daily cash reconciliations with entry into accounting system
- Monthly Bank reconciliations
- Month End balance sheet reconciliations and review
- Month End journal entries, including accruals, and shared expense allocations
- Maintain appropriate supporting schedules for financial review (balance sheet accounts)
- Research and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues
- Review financial procedures periodically to make sure that they are performing as planned and to update as necessary
- Monthly credit card reconciliation
- Assist with annual budget creation and management
- Payroll – bi-monthly processing
- Provide financial reporting as needed to Development & Engagement and Finance Manager
- Assist in annual audit prep
- Maintenance of all financial record keeping including archives
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 3+ continuous years bookkeeping experience
- Business or Accounting Associates Degree (or higher) preferred
- Knowledge of non-profit business procedures and accounting
- Budget creation and management experience
- Function with a high-degree of autonomy
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to think proactively and prioritize work
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, Donor Perfect, and Google suite software
The work is primarily performed in an office setting and/or remotely, with off-site meetings and events. Occasional travel may be required. This is mainly a sedentary position that requires the employee to sit, stand, walk, and bend, and may occasionally require moving files and other equipment.
